Friday Five – Mary-Jo Anderson
Our Friday Five this week is Mary-Jo Anderson, an Instablogger from the handle Port2Palm. She chronicles her life with her husband, 3 small children and two dogs as she travels between her homes in Newburyport and Isle of Palms, South Carolina. Her photos and stories are witty & inspiring but what we really appreciate is that everything she does is centered around community. Whether she is entertaining a dinner party or grocery shopping, she surrounds herself with community based businesses and people. Thank you MaryJo for being such an essential part of our wonderful community!
What do you love about this community?
Hands down, the people. We have lived and raised our family in Newburyport for the last 11 years. All of the friends we have made, to our children’s teachers and small business owners – we have the hardest working, salt of the earth people in town! It’s like everyone is family!
Favorite part of Newburyport
We love spending time on the water! We are boaters, and there is nothing better than cruising up the Merrimack river to watch the sunset or taking the boat out to Sandy Point with the kids for a beach day on the sand bars. The Newburyport waterfront at sunrise and sunset is a sight to be seen!
One thing you do everyday
Drive or walk downtown! I love our charming little town and whether by car or on foot, almost everyday I am downtown doing something! We often grab coffee and bagels at Abrahams, lunch at Joppa Fine Foods or dinner at The Poynt! Just a few of my favorites!!
Last meal, what would it be?
Thats a tough one!! It’s a toss up! The Caramelized Banana French Toast from Mad Martha’s OR The Fish Tacos from Lexis Burgers On State are both to die for, and I have them at least once a week!
How you knew the north shore was home
I grew up in Haverhill, and have lived in Newburyport for the last 11 years. I’ve spent my whole life on the North Shore and can’t imagine living anywhere else. This place has it all and after touring the city when we were looking to buy a home, my husband and I just knew this is where we wanted to raise our family.
