Summer plans are winding down, the kids are back to school, and your favorite coffee shop is bringing back the Pumpkin Spice Latte. For some of us, this transition is terrifying, while others are ready to get right into a cozy sweater, and watch the foliage turn. Whichever way you feel about summer coming to a close, remember there are still fun things to do to enjoy the outdoors while the sun is still shining, and the air is warm. Get out and visit one of the area’s most prized sights at this time of year– Colby Farm’s Sunflower Field in Newbury, MA.
Visitors drive from all over New England (and beyond), to come see the majestic golden field, and to take photos with the sunflowers. It is the perfect location for a family photo, engagement shoot, maternity shoot, or just your coolest Instagram photo of the season. The family-run farm planted the two-acre Sunflower Field 13 years ago, and it has attracted more popularity every year thanks to social media. It is common for the farm to see 1,000 people on certain days, and reach social media views of over 300,000! You can visit the field seven days a week, last car in at 7:45pm for the gorgeous sunset. It is $10/car to park, and you are welcome to stay as long as you would like to enjoy the scene. Sunflowers could be just what you are looking for to decorate your home, your late summer wedding, or your social media page!
While you are at the sunflower field, be sure to check out the beautiful farm stand stocked with Colby Farm produce, grown with organic farming practices. The farm stand also carries a variety of items from local sources, and of course, everyone’s favorite farm stand food– doughnuts. The farm stand is located at 50 Scotland Rd. in Newbury, MA.
